Tattoosays X Alexa Handpoked Tattoo Workshop

When Carbee from Tattoosays asked me to lead a handpoke workshop for a small group of young adults, I have to admit I was a bit nervous, but also really excited. While tattooing is my specialty, I saw this as an opportunity to create an experience that went beyond the technical side of things.

As the three participants gathered, I could tell there was a mix of curiosity and apprehension in the room. Some had dabbled in arts and crafts before, while others were completely new to tattoo.

Throughout the workshop, we talked a lot about the importance of patience, attention to detail, and our experiences in school & work - things that aren't just art, but life in general.

As the participants designed their stencils and tried their hand at "tattooing" oranges, I watched this amazing transformation happen. The initial hesitation and self-doubt slowly gave way to focused determination and genuine pride, regardless of how technically skilled the final result was. It was a great reminder that the real magic happens in the journey of self-discovery and connection.

By the time we wrapped up, the small workspace was bursting with this vibrant array of handpoked oranges - each one a unique reflection of the participant's individuality. But even more than that, the workshop had cultivated a real sense of camaraderie, mutual understanding, and shared appreciation for self-expression.

As I said my goodbyes, I felt this deep sense of fulfillment.  I hope the experience will inspire these young adults to keep exploring the incredible power of creativity to connect, empower, and inspire.
